Pump filling converter

This was a converter I have had for a while now and I was finally able to get a pen done up for myself today.

On this one the section is the heart of the pen. It holds the nib unit, cap, body and the converter. A bit different set up but it works out real good.

Trying my new triple start taps

I have had these triple start taps for a while now so after finally getting all of me Christmas gifts all done up I was able to do some playing around.

I am not sure where I got this blank but I really like the mix of colors.

A tool for a tool

A friend on one of my pen sites made up these great die holders and they take a small 2mm allen key to remove the set screw so I made up this little holder for them.

This blue was some vintage material that I got from England that I was told was Conway Stewart material.  I was told that it was over 80 years old.
I just wish that it came thicker but you can't re do history.

Not your grandmothers seam ripper

I have seen theses seam rippers around for a while now ans thought I would try one for my mom who is a sewer.
Not wanting it to be a kit type I thought I would try to mix it up a bit and this is what I came up with.

Not a pen but a lot of fun.

Custom Blind Cap

I have a customer who has this pen.

The problem is that he does not post his pens and with the end threaded it looks unfinished.

So this is the solution we came up with for him.

Fully concealed bulb filler

This is an idea that I have been playing around with for a bit now.
I wanted a pen that the body was all one piece but was also a bulb filler.

I made up the section and the ink reservoir with the bulb screws into the window part and the section screws into the other end.  The window part also has the cap as well as the body threads on it as well.  This small piece has two external threads and two internal threads on it.

I also set up my taper attachment to cut the tapers on this one.  It is a boring head with about 15mm adjustment on it.  I mounted a live tail stock head on it so now all I have to do is mount the piece in my lathe and do straight cuts but I am now getting a nice taper on my part.

I love it when a pen starts this way

My friend Phil sets this down in front of me and says make me a pen.

It was a desk pens that had seen much better days so now I can have some fun and make a new pen.
It is a 14k Eversharp nib.  I was able to get a 9mm thread on the ebonite section, so now for a filling system and then we can start the body.

Section all fitted to the body of the pen.
Phil wanted a step back on where the threads started so I started the threads back 7mm from where the vintage section ends.

Well I really like this nib and almost wish that it was mine.  Oh well at least I have a couple of weeks to play with it.

I made it in the Piccolo style with a slight taper on both ends.
All in all I am quite pleased with how it all turned out.

Custom Eye Dropper Technical Pen

I had been wanting to make myself one of these for a while now.  All the customer had was the cap, section which I was able to reuse and some vintage ebonite which he was kind enough to give me the balance so I was able to make up a vintage pen as well.

So I sat down and this is the design that I was able to come up with.  I did not put a real high polish on it as  we still wanted the vintage look.

He tells me that the newer tips will still fit this pen so you can have a complete set of different sized nibs.

We set this up as an eyedropper.

Hand Tooled Journal Cover

This is a leather cover I made a while back to hold Blueline notebooks.

More Pen Storage

I have has some of these for a bit but having my new pen box prompted me to get some of my other ones posted up.

My first pen box.

My Cigar Box

My Current Box

This one has some of my pen parts on my bench.

I lost this one to my wife's studio
It came from a watchmaker that I knew.

This is my new bedside stand that I had to weld up a base for it.

Pen Box

I had got this box a while ago from Bama Pen and never got the pics done up like he had asked  so here we go.

It is a beautiful lacquered box with that great cedar smell when you open it.

A few of my custom pens.

Sewing Stiletto

This is a tool that I made up for my wife to use in her fiber artSewing Stiletto's are used to manipulate fabric and yarns through your sewing machine. The one she has been using was a finger tip attachment but it left her fingers too close to the needle when free motion stitching.
