Cast Silver Clip

I have been wanting to have my own clips made for about 2 years now and today I was finally able to get the first one fresh out of the mould.

My daughter who is a jeweler will get it all cleaned up and polished for me.

So if this all works out good I have about 4 more styles and sizes to have done up.

Not a big step but one that I am pretty excited about.

Parker 51 Repair

I have never taken a 51 apart but when I got this one the other day I thought what the heck.

I was able to remove the hood with very little effort which I was thankful for.

I had to soak it for a long time before I was able to remove the nib which turned out to be 14K so according to all the antique dealers I see "it's worth it's weight in gold".

Any way I was able to get it all back together and it fills and writes great.

Problem number 2

This one had it end broken off so in the picture I have been able to get the end squared off and the inside threaded to take an end jewel.

The tape is there as it was in the lathe.

Now I need some help.

I don't want to use black because you will see the join so I thought I might as well change the color.  I was thinking about an end like the Waterman 100 had as I have some see through green, blue and red.

Any way help me choose.

Also I have never seen a cap like this one.  Any info would be great.

I went with green for two reasons.

#1: it's my pen   lol

#2: Any one that knows me knows I love green

 

 

Bic Roller Ball 537RT

Staples now has the new Bic roller ball  537RT and after trying one out at a 3 day meeting I really liked it a lot but like always I wanted a better body for the refill.

So this is what I was able to come up with.

I had an old Parker clip in my parts bin so I built the pen around the clip.

A Parker'ish Pen

I bought these sections a bit ago.

They are some NOS Parker sections of some sort.

If any one knows what they are please let me know.

I am a big fan of tough pens because I use them a lot at work and in areas that good pens have no business being so when ever I can come up with a tough non expensive pen I love giving it a shot.

The cap was from a Hero 616 I had laying on the bench and the acrylic was some stock that had come out of Italy a few years ago

A New Piston Filler

I finally got some time to work on a pen this weekend.

I had a little bit of this material left and I thought what better than to make a new piston filler.

This is a large pen with a cap at 17mm and the body at 14mm

But it is also a heavy pen because it has a piston unit in it so all in all the balance is quite nice.

The nib was a custom grind by Sean and puts down a really nice wet line.
