Pen Using New Cross Gel Refill

Cross now has a slim gel refill for some of their pens and I really like it so I made up a body for one.
It has a slip on cap.

Vintage casein

I got some vintage material in from France a while ago and today I was able to get a pen made up from it.
The material has a hole down the middle so I had to put an end cap on it as well.

Eversharp With A Slip On Cap

I got this vintage nib a bit ago and today was the day to make a pen.  I used Delron on this one.
I had a customer who challenged me to make a pen with a matching friction fit cap.  After I made his I had to have one of my own.
I made two of them for him but they are in the mail so I will wait until he gets them before I post them.

Pen Built Around a Nib

I had got some Parker Sonnet nibs that I got a long time ago and had installed one in a pen I sold a bit ago.  At the Toronto pen meeting someone tried it out and really liked it a lot so they contacted me about buying one and to make a pen around the nib.
Always up for a challenge we set about designing a pen around the nib.
We decided on Delron with a matte finish to match the shape and style of the body.
With some rough measurements as a guide off I went.

Final Result

Orange Click Pen

Wanted to make a click pen to go along with my Doufold clone so with some free time and some spare parts I made up this little guy.

Together

The click pen has a clip off a new Duofold and the fountain pen has one off a vintage Duofold so I think a good match.

From that to this

I was at Staples the other day and I picked these new pens from Paper Mate.
They have a really great refill in them but the body, not so hot.

So with some time and some ebonite I decided to make myself a better holder.

My New Duofold Style Pen

I have wanted a Duofold style every day carry pen because I am afraid to carry my vintage one with me, so this is what I came up with.

I used a vintage Parker clip and installed a modern Schmidt nib in it. 13mm triple start cap threads.  It is 15mm in the middle with a taper to the 13mm at the blind cap and the threads. Cap is just shy of 15mm.

So I was very pleased at how well it all turned out.  I just wish the original Duofold had a screw in section so I could have just used and swapped it over it but it is what it is.

Duofoldish

It all started out in my parts bin.
I had a clip and the top and inner cap and a section with a nib.
I love my full size one and thought I would make him a little brother.
I use all of the measurements of the junior and I think I am pretty close.

Vac Filler to an ED

This beautiful vac has a screwed up lock down filler.
The nib is really nice and the body of the pen is in great shape so to get it so that it can be used without sourcing out an new filler or until the Canadian dollar gets out of the toilet here is what I came up with.

Side note  No vacs were harmed in this repair,  Once a new unit is found that you just unscrew the joiner I made and install the new vac unit.

The interesting thing will be to see if it behaves itself with out burping.

The joiner piece I had to make up

Fitted into the blind cap

I adjusted it in and out a wee bit to get it fitting even a bit better than it is in this picture

Ready for a test run

Dry Highlighter

I use a highlighter all the time but I hate how it runs my fountain pen inks on the paper so I went looking for a dry highlighter.

I remembered Howard at Bexley Pens had made one years ago and after making mine I did find them online here.

I guess I should have looked online first but I did like what I ended up with.

Really Nice Blue Esty Nib Holder

I found this rod of blue yesterday when I was cleaning up as well as a stash of Esty nibs.
I was trying out some filling systems and ended up making this little baby.
The nib is a 1555 and it has a really nice ink flow to it.
I set it up as a squeeze filler and it holds a lot of ink.
Really good balance as well as the slip cap make for a really nice pen.

Orange Black Hard Rubber Comission

This was a custom commission modeled after my 51 style pens.
It had to take a long Waterman cartridge and have a F nib.
The ebonite was some stock I got a while ago from a vendor in Germany and it is a really nice color.
