Duofoldish

It all started out in my parts bin.
I had a clip and the top and inner cap and a section with a nib.
I love my full size one and thought I would make him a little brother.
I use all of the measurements of the junior and I think I am pretty close.

Vac Filler to an ED

This beautiful vac has a screwed up lock down filler.
The nib is really nice and the body of the pen is in great shape so to get it so that it can be used without sourcing out an new filler or until the Canadian dollar gets out of the toilet here is what I came up with.

Side note  No vacs were harmed in this repair,  Once a new unit is found that you just unscrew the joiner I made and install the new vac unit.

The interesting thing will be to see if it behaves itself with out burping.

The joiner piece I had to make up

Fitted into the blind cap

I adjusted it in and out a wee bit to get it fitting even a bit better than it is in this picture

Ready for a test run

Mini Lead Holder Repair

Went to my pen case the other day and my small lead holder was broken.

It seems that the threads had broken off the final.
I am thinking that the clip may be putting pressure on the threads.

So I started turning

Now the taper

I used Delron so hopefully I will not have the same problem

Installing a converter into a Parker 51

I got this Parker 51 in a while ago that had the squeeze unit all mucked up.  It looked like someone had taken a pair of pliers to it to squeeze it.  The feeder tube was almost all gone as well.

Howard at Bexley had done a new unit for these so you could use a cart. or a converter.
I set this one up to use a converter that is sealed into the pen.
The fit was not as tight as I would have wanted it so I used a bit on a clear sack that I cemented onto the section and onto the converter.  I have use this as a daily use pen for over a week now with no problem at all.

All set to go

Penman ball point repair

I had a customer who had a Penman set, a FP and a BP.  The ballpoint was dried up and is no longer available so I had to make something up for him.

I normally install a metal nose cone but because this section was not screwed in there would be no way to install a spring to keep the refill where it belongs so I had to come up with another solution.
The original refill just pushed in from the nib end so I ended up using a Bic stick refill.  I had to machine a new sleeve that went inside the original section and then drill it out to take the Bic refill.

I know it is a Bic but at least this matching pen set is usable.

A new section

This pen has a really busted up section with the threads breaking off in the body of the pen.
I had to remove the front shell to get the ring off for the cap.
Busted Section

I had no green ebonite in stock so we went with black.  The customer wanted it to have a matte finish so this is what I ended up with.

Wyvern Cap Repair

I bought a small lot of pens the other week that all needed a bit of love.
The first one I am working on was the Wyvern hard rubber.
It is the first English made pen that I have ever had.
Top two pictures from  Markiv on FPN
My first thought was like the previous owner to just make up a new cap.
After looking at it though I did not think there was a chance that you would be able to match the material so my other choice was to do a straight black cap.
Well after looking at it a bit I trimmed off the lip of the cap as I only had to take off about a 32th of an inch.  Next I used some industrial glue that we have at work for gluing together rubber and wicked it into the crack.
After re shaping the lip I think it will be fine.  You can still see the crack but it is solid and the cap also had the cap rings for strength so I left it alone.
Bonus is that it writes like a dream

Any way I have kept the pen complete and it will be in my pocket for a while now.
